What should you bring to a notary signing?

A quick list of items to bring when you book a notary.

The document to be notarized

First and foremost, you should always have a copy of the document with you. Many notaries charge extra for printing and scanning services. Here at The Notary Republic, we believe in being a one-stop-shop and are happy to print documents at no extra charge so long as 1) the document is delivered within 1 hour of the appointment and 2) the document is under 10 pages.

A state or federal government-issued ID

This is the crux of a notarization. We need to certify that you are who you say you are on paper! This can be your driver's license, passport, REAL ID, US military ID card, etc. It just has to show your picture as well as be current (i.e., not expired). We here at The Notary Republic never judge ID pictures and know that true beauty comes from within! 😉

A pen or pencil

Did you know that some notaries show up with only their stamps? We here at The Notary Republic show up with everything we need to complete a signing. That said, in case you hire any other notary, consider bringing a writing utensil with you so as to not prolong an appointment. Further, check your documents to make sure that you're signing only in permitted colors.
